Thailand Destruction Ceremony held 13th September 2021

This annual event and ceremony of the disposal of merchandise that violates the intellectual property laws of the Kingdom of Thailand  is an important step in resolving infringement issues while also showing the active participation between Law Enforcement, Customs, and inter-agency commitments to the infringed brands.

Thailand attempts to provide a more transparent, fair, and verifiable way that complies with the obligations under the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework and environmental standards.

The Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Sinit Lertkrai, presided over the ceremony, in cooperation with the Internal Security Operations Command, the Royal Thai Police, the Customs Department, and the Department of Special Investigation, on Monday, 13th September 2021 at the Ministry of Commerce.

This year, the ceremony concerned 572,076 pieces, which were equal to the “street value” of around 503 million baht. These exhibits included many kinds of items, such as clothes, bags, belts, shoes, watches, mobile phones, glasses, cosmetics, and much more.
