Takedown of 110 counterfeiting domains being used by scammers and counterfeiters
This week React managed to get 110 domain names taken down, which were being used by scammers and counterfeiters of products of various brands of React's members.
The websites pretended to be selling authentic apparel such as Asics, Canada Goose, G-star, Haglofs, La Martina, Liu Jo, Ostrichpillow, Parajumpers, Polo Ralph Lauren, Pomellato, Puma, Smartwool, Timberland and Tommy Hilfiger. The domain names were all registered at a Dutch registrar, but through resellers, and were all detected by our Online Enforcement experts. This successful notice-and-takedown was achieved through the use of the React anti-counterfeiting network's strong point: local legal teams, in this case in The Netherlands.
The legal liability of internet intermediaries is implemented differently in the various jurisdictions, but with its local expertise React is able to enforce against abusive websites which infringe the IP rights of our members on a commercial scale.
All abusive domain names (110 in total) for various brands, from various industries have now been blocked and will remain blocked.
