Counterfeit products worth nearly PLN 4 MILLION secured in Poland

COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS WORTH NEARLY PLN 4 MILLION SECURED IN POLAND

Months of intelligence activities performed by economic crime fight police division of Warsaw, Poland resulted in a seizure of almost 4.5 thousand pairs of shoes and over 9 thousand pieces of clothing with trademarks of well-known global brands. 4 raided warehouses were located just outside infamous counterfeit trade market area in Wolka Kosowska.

React Polish partners actively consulted police during raid preparation stage, as well as attended the raid operation and identified suspicious products. Evaluated worth of the goods was around PLN 4 million (EUR 880 K).

Two Bulgarian citizens were detained who, after questioning, heard 14 charges under the Industrial Property Law, and were placed under police supervision. The policemen secured over PLN 17,000 (3 740 EUR) and USD 4,000 (3 273 EUR) for future penalties.

Detainees may be punished with up to 5 years imprisonment.

In the meantime authorities will continue criminal pre-trial investigation that might reveal relations with monitored markets and might disclose the source of fake goods.
